Position: GIS Technician " Environmental Consulting Industry Location: Folsom, California Highly respected Environmental Consulting firm actively seeks proficient GIS Technician to join our thriving Folsom, CA office. The successful candidate will assist environmental project managers, environmental scientists, and environmental engineers with the presentation of spatial data and imagery through GIS and communicate with multiple team members regarding status and technical issues that arise. The GIS Technician position requires using ESRIs ArcGIS Desktop software with MS Office Products, specifically MS Word, Excel, and Access. Experience in environmental science or biology is desirable. Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience working with moderate to large size geographic data sets. The individual will be able and willing to collect GPS information at field locations, including ability to create data dictionaries, upload/download GPS data, and post-processing of GPS data; then use the collected information to prepare graphic images. The successful candidate will use and perform GIS analysis on a variety of data types and develop cartographic deliverables. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential. GIS Technician Required Skills: 3+ years of experience in GIS BS in Environmental Science/Biology/related field with an emphasis in GIS Strong proficiency using ESRI software, including ArcGIS 10.x, ArcINFO, Spatial Analyst, Arc Online, and GRID. Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel. Ability to create, edit and project a variety of data sets and databases to generate a variety of map products involving multiple disciplines. Solid understanding of cartographic principles including coordinate systems, projections, elevation, topography, and map scales. Ability to compile and extract geographic data from a variety of sources including field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing databases. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; and analytical and creative problem solving skills. Work on multiple projects while managing schedule and budgets; ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage workload effectively. Interpersonal skills to effectively and pleasantly communicate and work with clients, project managers, members of project teams, and other staff. Interface with IT.
