McLean's multidisciplinary programs treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses across the full continuum of care.SummaryThe incumbent is responsible for providing group psychotherapy on inpatient units, residential, and/or partial hospital programs, along with providing individual therapy, which focuses on the application and acquisition of skills addressed in groups. Provided groups will fit within the following frameworks: 1) educational, 2) social interaction, 3) community-making. They will work with the specific unit's Inpatient Group Coordinator to facilitate group experiences and support the needs of the identified client population. Additionally, they are encouraged to participate in other hospital activities, including, as time allows, committees, teaching, training, and research.Does this position require Patient Care?YesEssential Functions

  • Provides group and/or individual therapy to clients as assigned. Interventions should be structured appropriately for the specific clientele being served. Therapist will be responsible for both set-ups before and clean-up after the group occurs.
  • Provides support to the Group Therapy Coordinator in the assessment, evaluation, and development of the group therapy program on the unit.
  • The therapist provides a non-judgmental environment in which clients can process and verbalize personal insight and awareness of their issues.
  • Documents inpatient hospital group forms within established time parameters and in accordance with hospital procedures.
  • Provides consultation and evaluation to clinical teams and other units based on specific areas of expertise/training.
  • Alerts appropriate staff of emergent clinical issues that occur during group sessions.
  • Reviews and contributes to the specified program's Group Resources Manual, which details group descriptions, goals, methods, and resources.
  • Follows all established group therapy protocols.
  • Maintains contact with other clinical staff and unit leadership through participation in rounds, staff meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings, treatment planning meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
  • Reports to identified program lead as appropriate for supervision and performance review.QualificationsEducation: Master's Degree in a Related Field of Study required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.Licenses and Credentials: Preferred Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW - State License), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Counselor (LADC), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Experience with group and individual therapy (1-2 years required). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include being organized, timely, and possessing good interpersonal skills, experience with empirically supported group therapy skills (CBT, ACT, MI, DBT), familiarity with hospital/partial-hospital or community-based treatment programs, and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records (Epic preferred).
