Location:CA - FairfieldJob Type:Full timeJob Title:Service ShopmanJob Description:GENERAL PURPOSE:Performs service activities such as installing sign equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports or observations of technical issues with sign equipment, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Assists in delivery of serviced signs and equipmentDrives YESCO sign and equipment service vehicle to customer locationsRestocks and maintains parts and inventory of YESCO sign and equipment service vehicleInstalls new or modified equipment at customer's facility to ensure full functionalityReviews reports, work orders, and documentation from customers and night patrol representativesInspects malfunctioning or damaged product to assist in determining nature and scope of problemAnalyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective actionTroubleshoots and repair sign equipment and structuresPerforms electrical troubleshooting and repair to ensure functionality of electrical signs and lightsPrepares and uses materials consistent with specifications of job service orderOperates metal cutting equipment to accurately cut materials to service specificationsOperates welding equipmentImplements and maintains quality control and safety during serviceSands, polishes, and cleans materials to be used for sign serviceLayout materials to be used for sign serviceGlues sign parts togetherBends and shapes sign parts according to service specificationsTouches up paint and performs detail of signsPerforms preventative maintenance and minor repairs to service department equipment and vehicleProvides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customerCompletes work order and service documentation to assist with calculation of work hours and materials costsPerforms duties to ensure department meets expectations and deadlinesMARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responds to emergency service callsAssists rappel team to ensure safety of other service employeesKeeps work area organized, clean and free from debris to maintain a safe working environmentPerforms other functions as necessary or as assignedNATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:Interacts daily with employees and supervisors at the YESCO facilities to discuss service projectsInteracts daily with YESCO customers at their location to discuss service projectTRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six or more years of demonstrated experience in electrical sign service; two or more years of demonstrated experience in power tool operation, welding, electrical, or related areas and completion of the YESCO or other electrical sign service apprenticeship program; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities:Must have a state issued driver's license in good standingAbility to read, interpret, and apply specification documents, government coding document information, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to apply geometric and algebraic mathematical calculationsAbility to move, lift, and carry materials, equipment, parts, and completed projectsAbility to communicate effectivelyPHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
