Job Description:
Job Title: QC Food TechnicianLocation: Fairfield, CAFull Time
(M-F) first shiftSalary Commensurate: with Experience- $25-$28 per
hourDuties:
- Testing incoming raw materials as well as in process and
finished products, with a emphasis on food and spice materials
- Maintaining accurate record of analysis to company
standards
- Competently using a variety of bench instruments such as FTIR
(Thermo),
- Refractive Index, pH meters, and UV-Vis spectroscopy
- Preparing and submitting samples for in house and 3rd party
laboratory testing.
- Performing data review and release of raw materials and
finished goods (electronic and physical)
- Preparing and placing appropriate identification tags
(released, hold, rejected, etc.) on in-process and finished
products.
- Preparing, when applicable, Certificates of Analysis of
finished goods for peer review.
- Preparing, file and retrieving QC retention samples for
in-process and finished product comparison.
- Maintaining QC records and retention samples including filing,
retrieving and purging.
- Complying with all regulatory and company requirements,
including: safety, housekeeping, laboratory waste, cGMP, cGLP, &
good documentation practices
- Immediately communicating any nonconforming data or unexpected
occurrences and performs OOS investigations as directed
- Organizing work schedule to complete assigned tasks efficiently
and on scheduleQualifications & Requirements:
- BA/BS in Science with knowledge of organoleptic and scientific
techniques
- Prior experience in a laboratory or food science field
preferred but not required
- Authorization to work in the US indefinitely w/o restriction or
sponsorship
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
environment
- Ability to work with food allergens (except peanuts) on an
regular basis
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate easily
with others
- Accurate detailed record keeping skills
- Willingness and ability to learn new techniques
- Ability to effectively organize work flow to accommodate needs
of production
- Knowledge of lab safety and hazardous materials management
- Adaptable work style that can accommodate and support changing
business needs.
