Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Experience with distributed systems. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. With your extensive technical expertise you take initiative to independently design and implement new systems, designing, implementing, and testing multiple features with little or no direction from tech lead or manager. You collaborate with key stakeholders to determine future direction of work. The Workforce Identity team powers Bring Your Own ID (BYOID) capability for users, a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) effort introducing a new way for users to sign in and access GCP. BYOID allows employees, contractors, and partners of enterprise customers to securely access GCP using third-party identity providers via federation mechanisms like OpenID Connect (OIDC) and Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML). Our goal is to establish a unified, synchronous federation solution enabling cloud identity and federated users to access Google services effortlessly. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Define and execute the multi-year BYOID strategy, aligning technical roadmaps with customer needs, reliability requirements, and broader security goals. Drive the full development lifecycle of scalable services, ensuring high-quality delivery and upholding standards for reliability and security. Partner across the organization to deliver integrated solutions, influencing executive stakeholders to align technical and business objectives.
