Job Description:

The Senior System Administrator (SSA) is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware and software and related infrastructure. Primary support responsibilities may be assigned, but not limited to, specific environments such as VMware, Cisco, Cloud, O365, IBM iSeries systems administration, and LAN support. Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Monitor and analyze server performance and tune the servers to optimize performance (Virtual / Physical) . Ensure high levels of availability and security of system hardware, operating systems, software applications, and related procedures, enabling staff to function efficiently. Assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of projects. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy, research & development within the project life-cycle, technical analysis and design, and support of operations staff in executing, testing, and rolling out the solutions. This includes smooth project transitions from Development to Production by performing operations activities within the project life cycle. Provide advice in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Essential Functions

  • Provide server and application system administration for the company, including LAN support, virtualization, network monitoring, and employee access. Maintain awareness and advanced understanding of the systems and applications currently in use and the training/usage needs and problems associated with these systems. Help to ensure a smooth transition for the delivery of new systems.
  • Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring on the systems and work with management to ensure high-performance standards and availability.
  • Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network, hardware and software problems on systems, input/output devices, and workstations.
  • Provide services to software development to analyze, recommend, and develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for the use of software. Work closely with IS contractors in the needs analysis and development of software.
  • Provide maintenance of newly developed applications. May provide programming expertise in the creation of new applications.
  • Responsible for the successful deployment, effective usage, and efficient operation of information systems and technology. The incumbent will interface with vendors and management
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance with business needs and industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
  • Support security initiatives and audits
  • Perform and test system backups and restores. Apply patching - virtual and physical machines
  • Manage input/output devices, including printers and tape libraries
  • Conducts research on emerging products, services, and technology standards
  • Participate in the weekly 24/7 helpdesk support on-call rotation every 4-6 weeks
  • Performs other related duties as required and assists with special projects
    Education, training, and experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a related major and/or equivalent combination of High School Diploma/GED, training and work experience
    • Prefer 8+ years of IT technical experience with 3 years of experience administrating VMware vCenter, vSphere and Horizon View, VMware Configuration Manager, and Windows Server
    • Experience/knowledge of current Security practices is preferred
      Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
      • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory, Office 365,
      • Management and Administration of Server and Desktop Virtual environments (vSphere/ESXI)
      • Preferred IBM iSeries experience with working knowledge of PGP encryption, SFTP, and backup and automation software like BRMS and Help Systems Robot Suite.
      • Administration of cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google cloud a plus.
      • Certifications a plus: O365, Cloud, VMware, Cisco
      • Experience with storage area networks a plus
      • Demonstrated experience installing, supporting, troubleshooting, and utilizing software products.
      • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
      • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute tasks, and manage multiple interrelated systems
      • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills and customer service orientation
      • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
      • Self-motivated and proactively takes initiative to identify and resolve issues
      • Excellent attention to detail
      • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment
      • Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
      • Works well with management and co-workers
