Must-Have: Triage experience Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN)
is responsible for delivering safe, effective, quality nursing
care. The RN utilizes Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, Relationship
Based Care, and a professional nursing practice model to assess,
plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients assigned to
their care. The RN makes determinations regarding the patient’s
progress toward goals and uses a therapeutic professional
relationship with the patient and family to promote, maintain, and
restore health. Care is provided according to the specific
physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the
patient. The RN will support the mission, vision, values, and
expectation of excellence of the organization. The RN must
consistently demonstrate the ability to apply the nursing process
based on scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical
sciences. The RN provides care consistent with the
interdisciplinary plan of care grounded in Relationship Based Care
principles. The RN assesses the patient's physical and psychosocial
condition on an ongoing basis and formulates a nursing diagnosis.
The RN formulates a collaborative care plan with the client
ensuring direct and indirect nursing care services provide for
safety, comfort, hygiene, disease prevention, and restorative
measures. The RN performs essential nursing skills and explains
health treatments to the client and family, teaching them how to
care for the client’s health needs. The RN evaluates the
effectiveness of the care plan through ongoing observation of the
patient's condition and reactions to treatment. The RN demonstrates
a working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and
medications. The RN delegates tasks based on the legal scopes of
practice and supervises the nursing care provided by the care team.
The RN acts as the client’s advocate, initiating actions to improve
healthcare when necessary. The RN provides culturally competent,
age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice.
The RN coordinates patient care activities with nurses, physicians,
and allied health professionals. The RN must be willing and able to
float to other departments as requested and qualified. Effective
communication skills are essential to facilitate safe patient
handoffs. The RN is accountable for contributing to positive
patient experiences through individual interactions with patients
and families. The RN investigates complaints and works to resolve
them promptly while adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
