How you make a difference:
The JBCT Psychologist is responsible for conducting regular
assessments of mentally-ill and Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST)
patients in the JBCT program using standardized testing tools. They
will also provide opinions on restoration and produce timely
reports to the court. Compliance with the Department of State
Hospital (DSH) and Wellpath Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual is
mandatory for this licensed Psychologist in the State of
California.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Doctorate in psychology and experience with mental health delivery
systems
Experience
Significant professional experience in the mental field that
indicates knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of psychological
disorders and psychological evaluation techniques, including
psychological assessment instruments
Licenses/Certifications
Licensed to practice psychology in the State of employment by the
appropriate state licensing agency
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular assessments of mentally-ill and Incompetent to
Stand Trial (IST) patients in the JBCT program using approved
psychological testing measures and comply with court reporting
statutes.
Assess cognitive impairment and administer corresponding
psychological tests approved by DSH, as well as proper tests to
determine treatment course if malingering is suspected.
Participate in Treatment Team meetings and coordinate with IMO/ALJ
processes, while maintaining strict adherence to DSH and company
policies and procedures.
Foster supportive relationships with Sheriff's Office team and
document findings in inmate's health record with appropriate
summaries.
Provide clinical support and guidance, establish weekly "Doctor's
Group" as needed, and assist in training and shadowing of new
staff.
