Start your journey with us The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' (CIC) Commercial Casualty department is seeking an underwriting professional for an Assistant Vice President of Construction Liability. This role will lead General Liability and Umbrella lines associated with the Construction Industry for business across Commercial Lines with a primary focus on developing and executing the line of business strategy, business plans and underwriting guidelines. This individual will oversee the General Liability and Umbrella for the Construction Industry and identify areas for improvement in profitability and/or growth. Additionally, the associate will work with senior leadership, underwriting, sales, product teams and other departments to deliver profitable underwriting results. Responsibilities: -

  • Accountable for the development and execution of the General Liability and Umbrella strategic plan and profitability for the Construction book of business
  • Work with Claims, Commercial Filings and Legal teams to develop market competitive products, including enhancement of policy language, drafting of manuscripts and assessment of competitor forms/filings in support of Construction business strategy
  • Provide technical guidance, support and expertise ensuring effective product development, filing strategy and product maintenance
  • Provide expert technical underwriting guidance to Underwriting and Field Sales for complex inquiries and consultations on issues relating to contractor liability
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert to develop and deliver technical underwriting presentations and training content to internal staff
  • Lead and deliver training via on-site or virtual modules to external customers
  • Lead projects to analyze various areas of business and provide input on various aspects requiring change or remedial action
  • Create/update procedures and guidelines
  • Interact with other functional areas as needed, including CLD Underwriting, Claims, Loss Control, Actuarial, Legal, and Field Sales
  • Performs other duties as assigned Requirements: -
    • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
    • Strong knowledge of Casualty line of business, familiarity with competitor and ISO offerings with expert knowledge of General Liability policy language, including common endorsements and exclusions to the contracting industry
    • Subject Matter Expert on all areas of Contractor Liability including but not limited to: Contractual Risk Transfer, Construction Defect, Wrap-ups, Joint Ventures & State Specific issues
    • Experience in the large construction casualty space
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
    • Presentation and public speaking skills with a talent for breaking down complexities in coverage to a non-expert Education:
