Position Description

We Ship Express is looking for a Sr. Manager, Sales who possesses the balance of technical sales skills and the ability to lead, develop and motivate a team of sales professionals. The incumbent will manage a team of sales professionals, as well as directly source and close strategic deals to achieve their own individual sales goal. This is a high visibility role responsible for driving incremental revenue, identifying, and closing return customers while supporting their team to meet or exceed their KPIs.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

Sales Leadership

Plans, implements, and manages solutions to grow the department's and one's own account base, meet or exceed sales quotas while driving results that deliver market share growth for WSE
Manages sales pipeline closely and identifies needs within the team to expedite close rate
Upskill sales team through identifying strengths and development needs within the group, ensuring appropriate training and development plans are provided and executed; initiates staff training programs in customer relations and selling techniques
Develops, proposes, gains acceptance and implements strategic plans designed to meet the department's short- and long-term sales objectives
Conducts market research and recommends for product/service modifications or improvements

Direct Sales

Effectively communicate We Ship Express' value proposition to prospects and clients, and be able to discuss topics like shipping, e-commerce, and alcohol
Present pricing and contracts to customers and effectively negotiate deals; ensure all active prospects are being sold pricing terms that produce the desired unit economics and gross margin levels for the business
Develop mutually valuable relationships with customers, through understanding their key needs and requirements
Use CRM effectively and ensure all relevant customer details are entered appropriately and ensure smooth account handoff to CS Department after a deal has launched

Cross Company Collaboration

Work closely with finance to ensure all pricing and financial terms (including miscellaneous or special pricing programs) are accurately populating on customer invoices; ensure any inaccuracies or errors are resolved in a timely fashion
Partner with Operations, Finance, Customer Service, IT Solutions, HR, and Senior Leadership on projects and initiatives
Coordinates liaison between sales department and other related departments.
Performs other job-related duties as required to meet role and company objectives


Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; will consider a combination of education with in-depth industry knowledge and job specific experience
Experience Required:

Five to Seven years of direct sales experience with one to two years managing a team of sales professionals
Demonstrated experience developing team members to achieve their goals and grow as professionals


Strong knowledge of sales techniques and best practices
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills with keen attention to detail
Always focused on continuous improvement
Analytically oriented with eagerness to dive into data to identify opportunities; strong excel skills
Proactive, taking the initiative to get things done on behalf of customers
Ability to plan, meet deadlines, manage own time and the workload of others
High level of self-awareness; ability to acknowledge own opportunities for development and a willingness to learn
Works well in a team environment
Effective working in both remote and office environments
