Innovation & Economic Development Communications Manager

Under minimal supervision, this position is charged with
developing and executing strategic communications for the Solano
Economic Development Corporation in close coordination with our
President & CEO, and with Program Managers as assigned. The
Communications Manager will create a communication plan to generate
awareness of the EDC's innovation and economic development impact
with internal and external audiences, including our board of
directors and economic task force members, legacy investors,
general members, government and political entities, regional
businesses, media, and other partner organizations. -Specific,
ongoing duties may include: writing a monthly Economic Update
newsletter, crafting promotional emails to market upcoming events,
interviewing business owners for testimonial content, writing
timely articles for Vacaville Magazine and other print or digital
publications, direct outreach to business leaders to connect them
to the EDC and its leaders, staying aware of news stories about the
county and EDC industry sectors, developing a content calendar,
writing and scheduling LinkedIn posts for the Solano EDC page and
for the Solano EDC President & CEO, writing news releases and
pitching directly to media editors and reporters, developing
promotional materials for EDC-administered partner programs such as
the Bay Area Regional Energy Network, and advising the organization
on additional social media channels and follower growth
opportunities such as relaunching and managing the Twitter account.
Special projects may include: copywriting for advertisements and
annual investor package updates, writing case studies or profiles
for the website, and managing vendors such as graphic designers,
videographers, photographers, and web designers in support of
communication initiatives. Typical hiring range for this position
is $60-$70K commensurate with experience and qualifications. This
is a full-time, onsite position located in Fairfield, CA.
Occasional travel throughout the county for meetings and events is
expected. The position reports directly to the President &
- Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor's degree
in a field that develops strong written and communication
- A minimum of five years of directly related work experience, or
an equivalent mixture of postsecondary education and relevant work
- The position requires self-direction, innovation, and vision,
demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as the ability to
understand complex matters and devise successful strategies and the
skills to readily resolve problems and issues.
- Extensive experience creating, editing, and managing highly
informative and engaging written content.
- Significant previous work experience in marketing, outreach,
journalism, economic development or tourism communications, or
- Extensive experience in managing change, prioritizing, and
managing multiple complex activities in a time-sensitive changing
and fluid environment, and meeting deadlines with strong attention
to detail and a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated excellence in
interacting professionally and fostering solid partnerships both
horizontally and vertically across many internal and external
constituents and groups.
- Experience in making administrative and procedural decisions
and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues, to use independent
judgment, and to manage, preserve, and impart confidential
- Proven analytical/market research experience, knowledge and
skills. Experience gathering data, compiling information, preparing
reports, and maintaining records.
- Proficient skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet,
database management, and presentation software.
- Demonstrated success achieving measurable outreach and

- Ability to travel normally requiring a valid driver's
