ResponsibilitiesAs an Engine Controls Application Engineer for
Product Engineer Centerlocated at Waterloo, IA you will:
- Support the team with developing, calibrating, and testing the
engine-to-application interface and application-specific engine
software for various John Deere OEM (Original Equiment
Manufacturer) engine projects across the Deere engine
portfolio.
- Work with and integrate input from representatives of base
engine, engine performance and emissions, aftertreatment, engine
application engineering, and electronics groups
- Create and maintain Electronics System Requirements to document
engine control and vehicle interface requirements
- Participate on a local Subject Matter Expert team for a subset
of application features, assisting in capturing and distributing
knowledge in support of Distinctive Product Quality
initiatives.VISA sponsorship is NOT available for this positionWhat
Skills You Need
- 2 or more years of engineering experience (Electrical,
Mechanical, Computer, Agricultural preferred) or applicable
education in support of such.
- 2 or more years of technical experience relating to
design/calibration/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic
systems, either in industry or as part of educational
training.
- 1 or more years of experience with engineering tools, systems,
databases.What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience with diesel engine electronics component and system
specification and development.
- Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written)
skills and teamwork with in-person and virtual team members.
- Experience with Systems Engineering training, thinking, and
processes.
- Experience in roles that required demonstration of strong
problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with failure analysis for electronic components and
connection systems.
- Experience working with product verification and validation
including test planning and execution, service diagnostic or engine
calibration tools.
- Experience with engineering tools, systems, databases (such as:
Matlab, Deere-specific calibration tools, Microsoft SharePoint,
Tableau)
- Experience with off-road vehicles or applying OEM engines into
off-highway applications.
- Basic experience with diesel engines and engine subsystems
(e.g. cooling, lubrication, air, fuel, etc.)EducationIdeally, you
will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the
following:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or
